The Significance of the Hand Function Test in the Hemiplegic Patients

Abstract
The activities of daily living of the hemiplegic patient are largely dependent on their uninvolved hands . So the function of the uninvolved hands of the hemiplegic patients is thought to be iportaint in the rehabilitation of the hemiplegic
patientsd.
The Jebsen hand function test was designed by Jebsen in 1969, and used as an objective and standardized method of the hand function test. But it is a time measurement and we think that it is difficult to compare the measured value with normal and
to
assess improvement or aggravation.
We assessed the function of the uninvolved hands of the hemiplegic patients by Jebsen hand functon test and tried to introduce a new scoring system into Jebsen hand function test for easy and quantitative measurement and investigate its
significance.
@ES The major results are as follows;
@EN 1) The function of the uninvolved hands of the hemiplegic patients are significantly impaired ad this impairment should be considered in rehabilitation of the hemiplegic patients.
2) The new scoring system of the Jebsen hand function test could give us more information about the hand function of the patients than a simple measurement of performance time.
3) The new scoring system of the Jebsen hand function test shows the functional status of the hemiplegic patients relanvely well.
